In literal translation Muzhakka Vellithattu can be named as Echoing Silver Platter. It is situated at a height of about 4200 feet and like almost all other tourism points here, is a part of Kerala vested forests
The ancestral home of Lord Sri Kunnathurpadi Muthappan, it is believed, is on this hilltop and he stays here in between the festival seasons of Sri Kunnathurpady and Parassinikkadavu temple. This hilltop, with all its myths, will be symbolic of religious amity because Muthappan (Lord Siva in the guise of a hunting deity) had sought asylum with every religious community and also encouraged protection of wild life.
